On September 21, 2019 Henrik Klemetz passed away in Borås, Sweden in an age of 77 years. Henrik (HK) was without question one of the most prominent experts in Latinamerican DX-ing in the world. He made numerous trips to countries in LA. during which he established an impressive network within the LA radio community. In the 90s Henrik lived several years in Colombia where he also married Josefina and together they have a daughter Ida-Sofia. Henrik was an active DX-er from the late 50s to early 80s during which he heard an impressive number of Latin American radio stations. During the last 3-4 decades he was instrumental in helping LA DXers all around the world in identifying radio stations and helping us to get station confirmations on our reception reports. Henrik will be long remembered as the guru of Latin American DXing. Our thoughts in this difficult moment go to Josefina and Ida Sofia. May he rest in peace!
This station is a very common one on 1370 (split ca 1370.2v). The station changed the frequency from 1360 to 1370 some time between December 2017 and January 2018. After many many tries I finally got a short confirmation via Messenger.
This station has become relatively common during the last years. On December 25, 1017 the station was heard in the Sarvsalö QTH (Borgå) with a periodically nice signal before sunrise. Several time checks such as “”En La Voz de La Unión, son las doce 44 minútos” was heard in breaks between pieces of music. The station confirmed by a message on Messenger.
During a relatively good opening towards Ecuador on January 21, 2018 (LEM393) this station was phading up for around one minute with an ID followed by typical Ecuadorian music. In the ID the “1340 kilociclos amplitud modulada” is crystal clear but the beginning of the ID “Esta es….” remained unclear. After a check by Henrik Klemetz I sent a tentative audio file to the station and received a confirming answer that the audio was indeed coming from La Voz de su Amigo. This became my verified Ecuadorian station # 40 on AM and # 73 including also short wave verifications.
Radio Onda Azul was heard on January 21, 2018 in Lemmenjoki with a pretty good signal on AM 640 for some 20 mintues. around 0730 UTC. The station was previously heard in the Nordic region on shortwaves 4801v kHz 1989-1991, but this was the first AM logging of the station. The program heard at this date and time was “Rutas de Recuerdo” with the anchor Sinecio Bustinza with whom I and Henrik Klemetz have had an intensive contact since the date of my reception report to the station in early February 2018. Radio San Luís was heard on January 21, 2018 during LEM393. The station was heard with more or less steady signal between 0730-0830 UTC and my reception report was confirmed by Luchito Torres, Conductor de Radio.
Radio La Voz, Manta, Provincia de Manabí surprised by phading up over Lima´s Radio Bethel- Also Radio Carraviz, Juliaca was heard on the frequency on January 20, 2018 during LEM393. The station gave a nice ID before disappearing:”La Voz, La Voz – en todas partes – La Voz 15-70″. A nice email and a Messenger message confirmed my reception.
Simultaneously with the logging of Radio La Voz del Allincapac 770 in the same City of Macusani, Radio Altura with 1000 watts was fading upp for more than 10 minutes on 730, a frequency hosted by several strong stations such as Montreal, Bogotá etc. The station announced, e.g., the web address “radioaltura.com” on January 24, 2018. Also for this small peruvian several tries to get a confirmation was executed and finally a short message arrived via Messenger.
Hard to believe that a 2,5 kW peruvian can take over a frequency such as 770. This happened during the extraordinary selective cx towars southern Pero on January 24, 2018 during LEM 393. The station was heard between 00-01 UTC giving several IDs such as “Radio La Voz del Allincapac – una radio al servicio del pueblo”. After several attempts I finally got a short confirmation from the station on Messenger.
On New Years Eve 2018 OAU7B Radio Onda Popular, Juliaca kindly confirmed my reception report of the station. Onda Popular was heard during the LEM379 expedition around 07 UTC.
