ZYK602 R Jauense was surprisingly fading up on a frequency occupied by more than 20 Brazilians. This happened on January 16 around 03 UTC. To my knowledge this station has not been heard before in the Nordics. My mp3 was confirmed by email signed by Equipe Jauense-AM. Muito obrigado!
Resende AM was heard in the Borgå archipelago on May 26, 2016 during a very selective opening centered around the State of Rio de Janeiro (see earlier posts). The station identity was nailed by a clear “ZYJ506” in the TOH-id. Pertti Äyräs and I heard this station several years ago in Lemmenjoki in January 2002 but at that time on 1590. I recently finally received a confirmation on my report. 1580 is a very interesting frequency during good cx towards Brazil with numerous rare stations. It is however mostly a very difficult frequency.
More than 10 Brazilian stations has been logged in Finland on 1140 during the years. R Cultura da Bahia, Salvador, BA is by far the mos dominating here during B-openings. R Clube, Bocaiuva, MG, R Charrua, Uruguaiana RS and R Muriaé, Muriaé, MG are some of the other stations heard. On February 15, 2016 I was lucky to hear R Coroado AM, Curitibanos, SC slightly nelow the nominal frequency with, e.g., a nice jingle “1140 Coroado AM”. A nice FB message confirmed my reception recently.
R Caicó 1290 was heard a couple of times during good late evening openings towards the North Eastern parts of Brazil in February 2016. Station Ids like “R Caicó, com programas cultura, informacões e esporte” was heard with surprisingly good signals. This station was heard already in 2007 by the LEM241 expedition. 1290 holds quite an array of Brazilian stations that have been heard in Finland, the most commonly heard during the last few years being R Timbira and R Brasil Sul. I received a confirmation from R Caicó via FB.
Heard during LEM367 on February 19, 2016. This channel is occupied by a handful Brazilians regularly heard in Finland, but R Chiru has been heard before only a couple of times. A FB message confirmed my report.
During LEM367 in February 2016 there were a couple of good openings towards Brazil, especially on February 14, 15 and 16. 1320 gave me two new Brazilians, both from the State of Santa Catarina. On February 14 R Vitória, Videira was heard for more than an hour mixed with Imaculada Conceicão. The night after, February 15, R Litoral was in turn to be mixed with Imaculada Conceicão. Many TCs and also a full ID where one even mentions the 9kW power of the station as also correctly listed in WRTH. Santa Catarina is not a big state in Brazil what comes to the area and so hearing both stations listed on 1320 was a jack-pot. Videira is located in the heart of the state while Imarui lies on the coast just south of Florianópolis. A nice FB message was received today. Muito Obrigado Rádio Litoral!
Super R Tupi was surprisingly heard with a decent signal on 1340 here in Borgå on May 26, 2016 around 01 UTC. At the time the cx was very specific towards the State of Rio de Janeiro with rare stations also logged on , e.g., 1450 and 1580 as mentioned in a previous post. My audio mp3 was confirmed by Guido Mendes who among other things wrote “We are in the process of migrating to FM, since there are ongoing changes in the broadcasting system in Brazil”. Depressing news indeed for a fan of Brazilian AM Radio.
1320 has produced several new Brazilian loggings for me lately. R Vitória in Videira and R Litoral in Imaruí, both in the southern state of Santa Catarina and also the more northerly Nova R Cultura in São José de Egito in Pernambuco. On February 14, 2016 R Vitória emerged during LEM367 with a TOH-id at 0104 and was then heard for almost one hour giving several ID’s. No sign of the more common R Regionals in Sobral, CE and Cicero Dantas, BA. Ramon Bonassi kindly confirmed my audio via FB.
This station is heard every now and then in Finland, especially in Lemmenjoki. Thje most common Brazilian on 1420 is R Guarujá, Florianópolis, SC. During a very good and selective opening towards especially the state of Rio de Janeiro on May 26, 2016 noted in Sarfsalö outside Borgå at around 01 UTC R Difusora came up with a full legal ID at 0101 UTC. The mp3 was confirmed via FB.
This frequency has offered around 20 stations from Latin America during the last years here in Finland. Most of the loggings have, of course, been done in Lemmenjoki, Lapland, using our excellent 255 degree LP-antenna. Many times during good LP-cx R Nañduti in Asunción delivers an annoying interference from it’s split on 1020.1v. I logged R Macambira on February 16, 2016 at around 2230 UTC in Lemmenjoki during a strong opening towards the northeastern corner of Brasil. A short FB-greeting was received yesterday confirming my mp3 message to the station.
