Radio El Valle was heard in Lemmenjoki in February 2010 on 640. The first station from Argentina I have heard on 640.
The frequency does not hold too many stations from South America. However, in Scandinavia we have over the years caught at least RCN Santa Marta, Colombia; R Ciudadena, Quito, Ecuador; Morena AM, Guayaquil, Ecuador; Actualidad 640 (former Ondas Portenas) Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela.In addition the brazilians R Globo, Natal, RN and R. Bandeirantes, Porto Alegre, RS. The last mentioned the dominant during cx towards La Plata and Puerto La Cruz the dominant during cx towards Orinoco. In addition Guadaloupe and R Progreso, Cuba are commonly heard here.

Radio Monumental is quite often heard on 1510 but with terrible modulation, however. To get an ID is thus far from easy.I have some four hours of recordings of the station on different dates but only during ca 2 minutes of these four hours can you get some details. Yesterday I sent a f/up to the station and Franklin Chavez almost immediately answered with a short e-mail.
The logging of La Voz del Istmo in Panamá on January 31, 2009, during Pertti Äyräs and mine once-in-a-life time pedition to Lemmenjoki – LEM274, was definitely one of the best catches during said pedition. It is not very easy to pass RCN Barranquilla during cx towards Colombia and Panamá! As far as I know the station has been heard only once before in Finland: Matti Jääskeläinen’s logging of the station back in 1963!! Prior to our 2009 logging, the previous loggings in Scandinavia have been made in 1972 by Leif Blomqvist in Halmstad and Lars-Eric Svensson in Kvänum, both in Sweden. A short email from sbaretto77@hotmail.com verified my reception of HOXO in 2009.
Heard already on February 9, 2006 in Lemmenjoki, but received a confirmation just recently from José Alves, Diretor.
Here in Scandinavia 1560 is normally dominated by ZYH526 R Povo Pombal, Ribeira do Pombal, BA and during more southernly La Plata cx by ZYJ501 R Grande Rio, Itaguai, RJ. Other stations that have been sporadically heard in Scandinavia are, e.g, ZYH622 R Difusora Vale de Curu CE; ZYH903 R Agua Branca, Vitorino Freire MA; and during the last year also ZYJ— R Barigui, Almirante Tamandaré PR on a clear split of ca 1559.820.

I heard OAZ4W Radio Feliz in Lima AM 1110 on February 9, 2012 in Lemmenjoki, Finland. Today I received a confirmation on my reception from Juan Pablo Maldonado Zegarra. Mil gracias Juan Pablo!
A surprising cuban logged during LEM290 in February 2010 answered with an email from Liuva.24@rsagua.icrt.cu. I already had a QSL from the station after a visit to Cuba in late March 2010 celebrating my 60th anniversary together with my family. Included an audio mp3 from the logging moment in Lemmenjoki.

XECH on 1040 was heard on February 2, 2009 during LEM274, the maybe best pedition ever for Pertti Äyräs and myself. XECH or “Radio Capital” and at that time also using the slogan “La Romantica de Corazón” is situated in Toluca, Estado de Merida. After I sent a couple of f/ups during the last months I finally received a confirmation. An audio mp3 spanning some 50 minutes was included! Marvelous!
A short message via Facebook vas received today from R Tapejara 1530 logged on October 26, 2011 in Lemmenjoki. They wrote “…sim recebemos, e estamos muito contentes e agradecidos de levar as ondas que propagamos até ai… abraço…”. Muito obrigado!
This rare argentinian was logged in Lemmenjoki on January 25, 2010 gving and ID as “AM 1500, La Radio de la Gente” exactly as is stated in the station “logo” on the net. During a previous pedition to Lemmenjoki, some years ago, Pertti Äyräs and myself logged LRI214 R Bonaerense, Lavallol, BA also on 1500. A short email from Nuclear without a verisigner confirmed my audio clip.
WNTP became my first continental US station on 990 (excl. KIKI Honolulu). WNTP phaded up momentarily
in between CBC Radio One and CKGM. Rene’ Tetro, Director of Engineering & IT stated e.g. “I have read many articlesover the years on northern latitude DX-peditions in Finland, Norway, and Sweden. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do; maybe when I retire!” René also included a very nice pdf-QSL card of my reception. Thanks René.
