I received a nice confirmation on a f/up on a 2009 report on YVNM Caribeña, Morón some weeks ago from Directora Yaneirys Gonzalez who seems to be a very friendly young woman towards us DX-ers. She indicated that she would like to start a DX-program over Caribeña. I directed her to HK for professional help to initiate this! Gert Nilsson (GN) kindly sent me the v/s info that he previously had received from Jan Edh (JE). Thanks guys! For me this was a nice verification since I have sent reports to both R Morón and Caribeña several times since the 1970’s without an success!
Gracias por su confirmación Yaneirys y buena suerte con su programa especial de DX!
Blu Radio Cartagena (ex. R Bucanero) was heard during LEM345 in late October 2014 with a decent signal. This is a rather new chain of radio stations in Colombia (established in September 2012) comprising, at this moment, 8 FM stations and 2 AM stations in the order of: Calí 91.5, Eje Cafetero 94.1, Villavicencio 96.3, Bogotá 96.9, Medellín 97.9, Barranquilla 100.1, Neiva 103.1, Boyacá 103.1, Bucaramanga 960 (ex Candela) and Cartagena 1090 (ex Bucanero). Blu Radio is going to open three more FM stations in capital cities shortly. The aim is to have the entire station chain on FM. In Bucaramanga and Cartagena, however, there are presently no FM frequencies available, hence the two AM frequencies 960 and 1090. Thanks HK for your help!
I got a very descriptive and nice email confirmation a couple of days ago.
This station was heard on the approximate split of 1429.72v during the recent LEM345-pedition to Lemmenjoki in late October 2014. The dominant Argentinian here is R San Nicholas, but no sign of this now. Jari Ruohomäki (JPR) caught Cunumí Guasú already on August 19, 2013 and I got v/s hints from Jari that instantly worked! Thanks Jari for my ARG-QSL #150! Time might be running out to catch 200!
This Argentinian is every now and then audible in the Nordic countries on 1370. The frequencies most common stations in the Nordic countries during southerly cx are Brazilian R Iguatemi, Sao Paulo and the URG-station R Ciudad de Montevideo. I have heard R Trece 70 a handful time during different LEM-peditions but it was not until recently I got a confirmation. Thanks Arnstein Bue (ABU) for your help!
After a cx-vise mediocre 10 days in Lemmenjoki (LEM345) between October 16-25.2014 together with Pertti Äyräs (PÄ) now back home listening to clips from the evening of Oct 16 when some nice Aussies were heard. These are out-of scope of this blog.
I yesterday surprisingly got a Facebook verification on an old follow-up from LEM258 (logged January 30.2008) to ZYH672 Rádio Vento Leste, Aracatí, CE. The station is nowadays known as Rádio Moría and as far as I know the station under it’s new name has not been reported heard in Finland. The probably most common Brasilian on 1320 nowadays is Rádio Regional, Sobral also in Ceará.
Rádio Gazeta, Vitória, ES is maybe the most common Brazilian heard on 820 in Lemmenjoki every season. After several tries via email I finally sent a message to the station via Facebook and this time I was lucky to get a confirmation. The frequency 820 holds all in all around 25 different Brazilians so it is a frequency to be regularily checked during better openings.
WQSC Charleston SC is heard every now and then in the northern parts of the Nordic countries. My own logging of WQSC, or “1340 The Voice”, was made in Lemmenjoki in early March 2013. I have been very lazy with sending reception reports during the last half year but some days ago I sent a report to WQSC and my report was confirmed by a Facebook message. In addition to confirming my written px-details, the station mentions that they are not allowed to open attached files (such as mp3’s) due to the spam risk. This is probably the case with very many stations today, so it is worthwhile to describe what you heard as well as you can in writing and not only rely on that the receiver will open your attached audio file.
XENK was heard during LEM319 in late October 2012. Even though I did not get a full ID after the National Anthem was played the program format was unmistakable. My mp3 was confirmed through a Facebook message.
This unlisted Brazilian was heard on September 6, 2014 here in Borgå playing slow soft music and giving an YL time check at 0302 UTC followed by a weak ID. Apparently closed down at 0303 since the signal disappeared. Thanks to PEH for the hint to check this. The station answered promptly with an email giving their web address as http://www.radioparaenseam.com.br. The mail signed by Equipe da Rádio Paraense AM declared that me and my family was welcome to visit them if we ever came to Brasil and that they would do everything to make our stay a pleasant one!
Rádio Rondônia transmitting from the municipality of Pimenta Bueno, Rondônia which is located along the BR-364 at Km 507, south of the state capital, Porto Velho. Rádio Rondônia 1480 AM has been heard at some occasions in the Nordic countries. My own logging was made during LEM334 on October 13, 2013. A nice confirmation was recently received. Muito obrigado Rádio Rondônia!
