LV23 Radio Río Atual, General Alvear (Mendoza) is a rare Argentinian heard in Finland previously by -I think – only Jari Ruohomäki. Even though I did not had an official ID Henrik Klemetz (thanks again HK!) verified that it was Radio Del Plata’s px I had on the mp3 from October 2012. LV23 relays R Del Plata 1030 during weekdays. A short confirmation was received last week after many trials.
A chocking surprise was heard in Lemmenjoki on November 6, 2013 on 1580: the new Argentinian Radio Condor in Moreno, Partido Moreno, BA. The station started it’s transmission in September 2013. I got an ID that goes like “….25 de Mayo, Partido de Moreno, transmíte La Nueva Radio Condor AM 1580”. I had a hard time to get the station name (sounded like Formula or the like and nothing of such nature could be found). Thanks to Henrik Klemetz the correct identification was obtained. Best of all, I some minutes ago received a very sentimental FB message from Raúl José Díaz on the station who told me he was chocked and immensly surprised over my message and mp3. He also tells that the station is now temporarily silent because a heavy storm decked their antenna system. Mil gracias Raúl por su respuesta!
La radio de todos los residentes provincianos.
The logging of Radio Norteña on November 14 during the last hours of my LEM334 pedition came as a total surprise. After previously having heard Gualeguay, Metropolitana, Chascomus and Fortaleza here from ARG I certainly did not expect this. Transmitting from Los Polvorines, a district in the northeast corner of Provincia de Buenos Aires the station serves the community for “immigrants” from Argentina’s “folklore centre”, Santiago del Estero to the Greater BA area. The program heard was “El Rincón Santiagueño” together with the stations ID including the web address “radionorteña.com” (actually it should be .com.ar but the .ar was left out in the announcement!).
Last night I got a confirmation of my rather good mp3 from the stations head José Barraza. Mil gracias José! And big thanks to Henrik Klemetz for picking out some additional program details!
During the LEM333 and LEM334 pedition to Lemmenjoki November 2-16, 2013 we encountered very disturbed conditions due to the higher than normal proton levels. As a result, with a few exceptions, the conditions were almost all the time pushed south towards the southern states of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay so the 255 degree antenna was mostly the only one catching trans-Atlantic signals. To hear anything from US/Canada was hopeless. During proton activity the northerly path over the Pole becomes blocked, the more north you are the worse.
The good thing with this situation was, however, that many nice catches were done south of North America and especially from LP/Brazil and also, during a couple of occasions, from the Caribbean and Perú.
On new catch for me was that of LV15 Radio Villa Mercedes in the Province of San Luís, Argentina on 640 on November 3, 2013.The station was surprisingly alone on the frequency without any interference from the normally dominating “super power” in Porto Alegre, RS. I captured a nice legal ID “Radio Diez, la Radio. LV15 Radio Villa Mercedes AM 640 y FM 99.9 y en todo El Mundo LV15.com.ar”.
A nice FB confirmation was received last night: “Hola Jan-Erik! Recibimos su mensaje y lo leímos al aire. Qué alegría saber que nuestra señal llegó tan lejos. Efectivamente nuestra emisora se llama LV15 Radio Villa Mercedes AM 640 y transmite desde dicha localidad en la Provincia de San Luis (Argentina). Le enviamos un afectuoso saludo y gracias por escribirnos! Miguel Gauna, Locutor”. Mil gracias Miguel!
Radio General Belgrano was heard in Lemmenjoki at least on two occasions during LEM317 in February 2012 by Pertti Äyräs and myself. Finally some time ago, I received a confirmation via Facebook from this last and most wanted and missing listed ARG on AM 840. Thanks to Jari Ruohomäki for help with the FB contact.
I have been hunting for LT2 Radio General Madariaga in the Province of Corrientes for decades without success. Earlier in the 70’s and 80’s the most common Argentinian, even though also a difficult one, was Radio Bahía Blanca. Nowadays LV9 Radio Salta is by far the most common Argentinian on 840 and tend to be very strong during cx off the Greater Buenos Aires area. Salta is located in the northwestern corner of Argentina bordering in the north to Bolivia and in the west to Chile. Corrientes again is located in the northeastern corner of the country bordering to Paraguay.
LT12 was heard in Finland already in 1974 by Roland Sandberg (RS) and in 1985 by JPR according to lists. In Lemmenjoki LT12 phaded up only for a short while over R Salta in October 2010. I recently received a confirmation of my reception and now the only Argentinian on 840 missing in my collection is Radio General Belgrano in Buenos Aires. This station was heard together with Pertti Äyräs during LEM317 in February 2012, as we believe fpr the first time in Finland. Since, Jari Ruohomäki (JPR), has heard General Belgrano and he also managed to get a QSL, something I have not yet succeeded with yet.
I heard Cadena Eco on 1220 in late January 2008 carrying a soccer game including the team Vélez Sarsfield that compete in Argentina’s Primera División. I have tried several times to get this rare Argentinian verified. Finally it succeeded via Facebook. Thanks Jari Ruohomäki för help with the v/s. Gracias Flavio!

A Short message via Facebook confirmed today my reception of Radio Antares on 1650 on January 31, 2009 during the LEM274 pedition.
Radio El Valle was heard in Lemmenjoki in February 2010 on 640. The first station from Argentina I have heard on 640.
The frequency does not hold too many stations from South America. However, in Scandinavia we have over the years caught at least RCN Santa Marta, Colombia; R Ciudadena, Quito, Ecuador; Morena AM, Guayaquil, Ecuador; Actualidad 640 (former Ondas Portenas) Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. In addition the brazilians R Globo, Natal, RN and R. Bandeirantes, Porto Alegre, RS. The last mentioned the dominant during cx towards La Plata and Puerto La Cruz the dominant during cx towards Orinoco. In addition Guadaloupe and R Progreso, Cuba are commonly heard here.
Radio El Valle’s Socio-Gerente Jorge Cozzi answered the email below and included a couple of very nice photos.
